Hi knitters!
As the summer winds down, now is a great time to pick up the needles. We always see a lot of new enthusiasm for knitting in the fall. And anyone looking to give handmade gifts this holiday season? Now's the time to plan that out so you aren't up pulling crafting all-nighters at the last minute. They aren't pretty, I'll tell you now.
If you pick a simple sweater or scarf project, it will probably be close to ready to wear by the time you head out to visit colder climates for any of the holidays! (or if you happen to have a place that gets chilly in LA in the winter- I am definitely one of those!)
Have a lovely end of summer and we'll see you in September!
**Also, I have had to start paying the Meet-up Fee for this group so I will have a little donation jar to cover this cost at the next meeting. Please give what you can... it's not a huge expense, but it does help if we all share it!**
****I am removing the ability to RSVP maybe, because this prevents people who know they want to come from getting a spot. Please check your calendar before RSVPing and make sure to write it down so that everyone who really wants to come is able to. If the list is full, we now do have a waiting list. Thanks!***
Happy crafting,
Caroline
NEW: I have been getting a lot of nervous requests from brand new knitters who are a bit shy about diving into a full group. IF YOU ARE A NEW KNITTER: please note this in the notes section of your RSVP and come at 3pm, instead of 3:30. If i get RSVPs from new knitters looking to learn, I am happy to come and get you started. I have taught people to knit for over 5 years, and am confident that we can get you working away on a beginning project by the time everyone else arrives.
ALSO NEW: I am assembling a list of potential class offerings to teach at 2pm before the meet up. The cost would be $25 per person and you would get to cover a topic like "cast-on techniques" "increases and decreases" "reading patterns" "cables" "lace patterns" or other fun topics. If there is a topic you are dying to see offered, please e-mail me.
One class in the works: basics and pattern reading
One advanced class: working patterns from a chart
Please note your interest in these classes when you RSVP.
Happy knitting!
Caroline
