Hi knitters! We are down to the wire with holiday knitting! And holiday parties. I am so sorry to do this a week in advance, but I have to attend a holiday party in the late afternoon/evening on the day of our meeting. Figuring many of you were in the same boat, I am pushing the meeting up to noon... Hope to see you all there for holiday knitting cramming! Caroline **Also, I have had to start paying the Meet-up Fee for this group so I will have a little donation jar to cover this cost at the next meeting. Please give what you can... it's not a huge expense, but it does help if we all share it!** ****I am removing the ability to RSVP maybe, because this prevents people who know they want to come from getting a spot. Please check your calendar before RSVPing and make sure to write it down so that everyone who really wants to come is able to. If the list is full, we now do have a waiting list. Thanks!*** Happy crafting, NEW: I have been getting a lot of nervous requests from brand new knitters who are a bit shy about diving into a full group. IF YOU ARE A NEW KNITTER: please note this in the notes section of your RSVP and come at 3pm, instead of 3:30. If i get RSVPs from new knitters looking to learn, I am happy to come and get you started. I have taught people to knit for over 5 years, and am confident that we can get you working away on a beginning project by the time everyone else arrives. One class in the works: basics and pattern reading Please note your interest in these classes when you RSVP. Happy knitting! |

Hi knitters! As the summer winds down, now is a great time to pick up the needles. We always see a lot of new enthusiasm for knitting in the fall. And anyone looking to give handmade gifts this holiday season? Now's the time to plan that out so you aren't up pulling crafting all-nighters at the last minute. They aren't pretty, I'll tell you now. If you pick a simple sweater or scarf project, it will probably be close to ready to wear by the time you head out to visit colder climates for any of the holidays! (or if you happen to have a place that gets chilly in LA in the winter- I am definitely one of those!) Have a lovely end of summer and we'll see you in September! **Also, I have had to start paying the Meet-up Fee for this group so I will have a little donation jar to cover this cost at the next meeting. Hi knitters! We had a great meet-up in July. It was delightful to sit and sip mint lemonade in the cool cafe instead of baking out in the heat. Thanks to those knitters who tried the morning time experiment with me... we met at 11:30 and found it is quite a bit more crowded that time of day. I'll be back to my usual schedule on Sundays in August, so we are back to the afternoon slot. I hate to bring up the H word, but as of August, we begin the downhill slope to the holidays. If you want to get going on your gifts now, you are far more likely to finish with a smile on your face rather than angry wrists and no sleep. We hope to see you in August! **Also, I have had to start paying the Meet-up Fee for this group so I will have a little donation jar to cover this cost at the next meeting. Hi knitters! My crazy schedule continues! I am running sound for a play that does Sunday Matinees through mid-August, so I am going to have to make this month's meet-up a Sunday Brunch knitting experience so I can get to the show on time. Bring your projects and enjoy conversation and inspiration with the craftiest folks in LA- all needlecraft welcome- we had another crocheter this past month in June and there is talk of a cross stitch infiltration. I am keeping the meeting on Sunday as we all enjoy the free parking instead of feeding meters on Saturdays. Keep those needles going! I hope to see all of you there in July. Keep up the great knitting before we meet again. ****I am removing the ability to RSVP maybe, because this prevents people who know they want to come from getting a spot. Hi knitters! This past Sunday was the May Meet-up. We had a great crowd with two brand new knitters and some new faces as well as familiar ones. Everyone was knitting for new babies in their friend group, it seemed with two knitters trying out toys: a frog and a bear. Others started up cabling while two knitters were starting out for the very first time. We also did a brief lesson in stitching pieces together for a patchwork baby blanket. Fun! I am still working on my step-mother's sweater at far too slow a pace and dealing with the mystery of the sock yarn to finish my dad's socks that never came in the mail... June's meeting will be right at the very end of the month because I will be out of town in the middle. I hope you all have a wonderful few weeks until we meet again. Also... meet-up has finally decided to charge membership fees so I will have a donation jar next time to cover that. Thanks for pitching in! I hope to see all of you there in June. Keep up the great knitting before we meet again. ****I am removing the ability to RSVP maybe, because this prevents people who know they want to come from getting a spot. Hi knitters! This past Sunday was the April Knitting Meet-up. Even though it was a warm day, we had one of the biggest groups we've had in ages. Three new knitters started projects for the very first time. Others got to finish things they had been working on for a long time. So much fun! We hope you will keep knitting through the summer and join us again! I hope to see all of you there in May. Keep up the great knitting before we meet again. ****I am removing the ability to RSVP maybe, because this prevents people who know they want to come from getting a spot. Hi knitters! This past Sunday was the March Knitting Meet-up. It was great to see familiar faces as well as a lot of new members. We had some ball-winding lessons, and got to watch sweaters, scarves, and baby blankets move along toward completion. I very much hope I will have finished my dad's birthday socks (for April 9th) by the time we meet on the 19th! I hope to see all of you there in April. Keep up the great knitting before we meet again. ****I am removing the ability to RSVP maybe, because this prevents people who know they want to come from getting a spot. Hi knitters! We had a great time this past Sunday at the February meet-up. It was the perfect way to spend a cold afternoon they day after Valentine's Day! i made some headway on socks for my dad's birthday, we had three new members to get to know, and a great conversation about all the regional accents we know because of all the parts of the country we are from. Come join us in March- there are still scarves to be worn this season before the summer- and don't forget about making lots of baby hats in cotton to have stashed away as gifts when friends make that "we're having a baby" announcement. I plan to have a baby gift bag all set to go soon- once I get through these socks! Hope to see you March 15th! I had to bump the date because I'll be out of town on the 8th.
