Lorna's Laces is headquartered right here in Chicago, and lucky for us, they're willing to give tours! Come join the group at 10:00am on November 7th for a guided tour of Lorna's Laces workspace. We will get to look around at their space and get to BUY the mill ends that are available to purchase! Cash is preferred, but credit cards are accepted. They do not accept checks. This event does not allow for a "maybe" answer; we need a yes or no answer because we need at least 15 people in order for us to take the tour. If you have friends who are interested, please RSVP for them as well. If we have more than 25 people who want to take the tour, we can split it into multiple events. Their address is 4229 N. Honore Street. You can take the Brown line and get off at Montrose, or the Montrose bus. I think there is parking available, too. We will meet in front of their warehouse - it is one of the streets that run right next to the L tracks. We expect to be going in right at 10am, so please don't be late!

Join us after work the first Wednesday of the month at Cafe WhaWho?, just a short hop away from the Chicago Brown Line stop. The cafe has a full bar, coffee, small eats and pastry. Please note that this meetup begins at 5:45pm, and that the cafe closes at 8pm. We're happy to see you whenever you can make it - don't worry about being a little late or a little early! We will be collecting the $1 meetup fee.

Goose Island was a lot of fun last time. If you haven't been in a while check out their new menu! Goose Island does have a parking lot, but if you take the CTA the closest stop is the Red Line on North Ave. We will be collecting the $1 Meetup fee. NOTE: They do include an 18% tip on the bill. For those of us planning to pay with a card instead of cash: you must include tip when you add up your total. Example: if your food plus tax it 10$ and you want to tip 2$ you must write 12$ down, not 10. If you don't, they think the 2$ is an EXTRA tip, on top of the 18% already included.

Noble Tree's Day is going to be Thursday! Pie delivery is late on Wednesday, so we have the best chance of getting pie if we come in on Thursday! There was lots of pie when we went in June, and I can tell you that the lemon meringue was awesome! We will be on the 3rd floor starting at 6:30. Order your food and drink downstairs and head upstairs with it! We are booked for the 3rd floor, but the air conditioning doesn't seem to work up there. If it is super hot outside, you'll find us on the second floor instead. Noble Tree is at 2444 N. Clark Street. You can get to it using the Clark, Broadway, or Fullerton bus. There is street parking, but it can be hard to find. We will be charging the $1 Meetup fee.

We'll be meeting again at the Leona's near Belmont and Sheffield - the address is 3215 N. Sheffield. This location is right around the corner from the Belmont Red/Brown line stop. It seems that their valet isn't free anymore, it now cost $7. There are meters outside on Sheffield, but I'm not sure how easy it is to find parking now that it's getting to be summer! We will be collecting the $1 meetup fee.

It's time again for YarnCon! YarnCon is Chicago's own yarn-centric exhibition -- a place to promote, sell, and celebrate the yarny arts. YarnCon runs from 10am until 4pm. Chicago Knitters Unite will be having a booth at Yarn Con this year. We'll be selling both mystery bags of yarn and row counter bracelets. You can check out the full vendor list at YarnCon.com, there will be lots of vendors selling yarns, needles, needles holders, and lots of cute notions! We will need help running our table this year - we're looking for volunteers to do 1-hour shifts. You'll be talking about and promoting our meetup group, helping to sell our items, and get to knit when there is downtime! Since this isn't like a regular meetup, when you RSVP yes please let us know when you'll be able to help out at our table. We will not be collecting the $1 meetup fee, but there is a $3 admission to get into YarnCon. Pulaski Park is located at 1419 W. Blackhawk St. Parking was pretty sparse, and all of the stress around the fieldhouse are permit parking only. Your best bet is to take the CTA. It's a few block from Ashland, as well as North Avenue, as well as a Blue line stop (but I'm not sure which one - can anyone help?). I hope to see you there!

We had a great time at Panera last time, we're going to head back! There was so much space and light, it was awesome! There is also something for everyone: dinner, dessert, snacks, coffee drinks, etc. We will try to get that nice big table with the lighting - if you're there first, grab that table if it's empty! If not, we'll push some tables together. Panera is located at 616 W. Diversey. It's easiest to get there using the Clark or Broadway bus, or the Diversey bus from the brown line. We will be collecting the $1 Meetup fee.
