I live in the gold coast and was wondering if there were any meetups in this area. I work at Northwestern Hosp and live close by. I work until 6pm and it's hard getting to some of these meetings. Any takers on downtown?

YES! I work and live in the Loop so it would be easier for me as well. Start at 5:30 or 6:00 is good for me.

Hi-
I live in the South Loop area & would love to find a group that wanted to meet nearer to downtown too. 6 would probably work for me.

That's a great idea...is there still a SnB once a month at the Museum for Contemporary Art? I'm working nights a lot this summer, but would love to get together downtown on a night off.

If anyone wants to start a meet-up there let me know, and I can make you an organizer and you can add your meet-ups to the calendar. I think it is wonderful to start one for our Loop knitters.

Ditto for me. I work on Orleans and Franklin, a nice cafe with a quiet room would be nice. about 6 pm would work for me. Also, since it will be getting cool soon, some places with a fireplace would be nice. Whomever arrives first sets it up for the group. Or we could arrange ahead of time too.

What about Cavanaugh's at 53 W Jackson. It has a variety of fare--not too expensive and has a dining room off the bar that is fairly quiet in the evening. The location is at Jackson and Dearborn so there is a variety of public transportation and several parking garages and lots. There is street parking on Dearborn, but I don't the time limit or cost.

I do always suggest to call ahead and make a reservation to where ever you are going.

We'd love to hear suggestions where you guys want to meet and we can make them a Meetup. I don't work, or ever go, downtown, so I don't know of any places that would be good for a Meetup. Feel free to email Grace or myself and we can work on this!

I'm not sure if anyone is still looking to plan some downtown meet-ups, but I'm in the area, too, and would love it! Unfortunately for my schedule, I am due in a week with my first babe. Hopefully I'll be up for some meet-ups later next month!

My hubby and I have been brainstorming some places. Here's what we have come up with so far (keep in mind that we haven't actually contacted these places yet to see if we'd be let in...just some ideas!):

  • Prentice Women's Hospital - Argo Tea
  • Dominick's on Fairbanks and Ohio - Starbuck's (with fireplace, but not too much comfy seating...just wooden chairs)
  • D4 Irish Pub (fireplace, cushy chairs, may be busy depending on the day/time)
  • Various cafes/shops in Viagra Triangle

I would definitely join a downtown meet-up. Send me a message if you need help organizing.
