I'm about to start the socks I'm making for an 18 month old, and I'm wondering if I should do the ribbed cuff on one size smaller needles than I'll be using for the rest of the sock?

Will this help keep them on his little feet?

Hi Mary...I think smaller needles for rib would help. another thing you could try would be to make an eyelet row (yo,k2tog) near top of cuff for a drawstring.....
Cheers!
