In 2009, after looking for a group in the Fairfax City area for sewers/knitters/quilters, etc. and not finding one quite close enough, I figured why not start one? Our group is for people looking to stitch with a group to complete all those projects we've started and not completed, and to gain inspiration from others on new projects. Our group is very diverse in experience level, age, and craft. I think that has led to the most fun! No two meet ups are ever the same.

FAHA (Fredericksburg Area Homeschoolers’ Association) began as more than a homeschool support group. It started as an intentional community, secular, close-knit, and like-minded. In 2003, the founders were immersed in attachment parenting, respectful parenting, and natural living. That is still strong in us, and has continued to inform our lives as our children grow. New members have been attracted to some or all of these values and interests and we’re a strong, connected community. We live aro …

To be frank I am looking for good people to hang out with during the weekday. I jealously reserve the weekends and evenings to spend with my spouse. Age, sex, and all the rest does not matter. The interests are all mine and are not required either. This is in no way a dating group. I simply enjoy talking to people and learning about their lives. All meetups will be in public places, so no worries. Hope to see you soon.

Do you ever feel like your not really connecting with people in your community? Me too. The most fundamental revelation of neuroscience is that our brains are wired to connect. The Roseto Effect (see below) mystified scientific investigators for years when they studied the inhabitants of Roseto, Pennsylvania in the 1960’s. The Rosetans defied statistics with unhealthy habits yet flourished with good health. Why? This cohesive close knit community nourished each other with a high degree of emotio …
